New guy without a truck
So I'm stuck in Iraq. I have been inspired to bulid a truck. I have been looking around on this site for about 3 months and you guys seem like like you know what you are talking about. My plan is to buy a truck and start planing the resto-mod. After spend some much needed quality time with my wife and daughter.

Re: New guy without a truck
G'day and welcome from downunder.
it seems cheaper to plan the resto mod and then buy the truck according to what you want/can't do yourself.

Re: New guy without a truck
Thanks for the welcomes, I am in the Army as an aircraft powertrain mechanic. A 67-72 fleetside swb is the body ,I lke the grill on the 71-72 the most. You are right about Hawaii not having alot to pick from. But if I can not find one I will have to ship one over from Cali. As for the look I want will depend on the truck that becomes mine. It hard to explain what I have i mind it will have a modern driverain. As for the work I will be doing almost everything myself with help of few firends and the internet . I want to build a truck not buy one.

Re: New guy without a truck
I bought my truck sight unseen and had it shipped to my parents house the first time I was deployed. Don't do what I did. Just wait till you get home and be there to look it over real good. Even though I love my truck, I would have definitely started off with something different had I known better. At least you found this board before you bought. You are already ahead of the game there. I set out not knowing much about these trucks or what to look for and bought the first thing that came along.
