Re: Damaged radio
You are welcome to send the damaged radio to me if you like. Looks like the post office hooked you up on this one Fat Hoe.

I should have put insurance on it, but I thought if something like this happened I didn't want to have to deal with the hassle with them over a $25 part and $11 in shipping...my time is more important to me and my family that having to argue with the post office...and then on top of that, I have no confidence in companies lol, they probably wouldn't have covered it having some kind of excuse...oh well, I'm just upset that Bob doesn't have a good radio now... |

Re: Damaged radio
Don't mean to hyjack, but what are those radio's worth?? I have one from my old 87 that I believe is the very same thing as that one, but none of the chrome is faded, and not to pour salt on a wound, but the shaft ain't bent.....

Re: Damaged radio FYI
I was going to delete this post but I thought I'd leave it up for others future reference. The post office is NOT the way to ship parts that can be damaged in shipping. In addition to this radio they damaged an AC plenimum they crushed it. If your are the seller or the buyer your best bet is to take it to The UPS Store (or like packaging outfit) to have the item properly packaged and shipped insured. In both cases the items I bought were packaged well by the seller under normal care conditions, but not well enough to withstand the abuse the Post Office can deliver. YES this will cost more but as you can see in the photos the radio is now junk and useless. ANY parts I buy in the future and have shipped I will request UPS packaging and shipment.

Re: Damaged radio
I guess it's just the luck of the draw. I have shipped with USPS and UPS/FedEx for years and have had no damaged items from either.

Re: Damaged radio
I just want to update this and add alittle information for everyone...I just shipped a tilt column through UPS...it was the same price as USPS...in that price I got $100 insurance (this is standard on every package), delivery confirmation, signature confirmation, and I know UPS will take care of the package until USPS...
I will NEVER ship anything through the USPS again except if someone requests it...period |

Re: Damaged radio
Another stand up guy is Jerry Rudbeck who does business as http://www.electrodesign.us/contactus.htm. Excelent work, communication and very fair prices. He also can install an iPod jack in that radio. Al W.

Re: Damaged radio
I don't think I'd want anyone installing anything into that radio besides new shafts...lol
Wow, on edit, I just noticed this guy is in Simpsonville, SC...might be worth looking into...I know a place that does excellent work, but it's all the way in Minnesota...this place is right down the road... does he change the guys with a digital tuner and new electronics? if not, I'm gonna use the guys in Minnesota...so sense in putting an Ipod jack on that old radio without changing the guts...you won't get anywhere near CD quality with the old guts...I'd rather just listen to the radio then pay to just put an Ipod jack in there...I can do that myself...
