heater ?
my heater box and core are broken... do i need to hook up the hoses to a new heater box and core or can i go directly from the enigine to the radiator and bypass the heater? any advice? this is my first time working on cars

What they mean is take a lenght of hose from your water pump and hook it to the intake manifold fitting, but I belive one is 5/8" and the other is 3/4", so you may want to change out one of the fittings to make both the same diameter. They should both be 1/2" NPT

Since we're talking heaters I thought I'd jump in. Right mow mine is bypassed just like discussed. It sure would be nice to have heat since it's 27 degrees in VA right now, but it's really not anywhere on my list. My fix for now is a small space heater attached to a extension cord and electrical timer that kicks on about 30 minutes before I leave for work so my windows defrost. If anyones curious according to the warnings on those electrical timers you shouldn't use them with extension cords or space heaters.
