I just acquired a 1971 GMC Jimmy with the 3 on the tree. I was wondering if anyone knew how common they were? In searching I have only found one other blazer/jimmy with the three on the tree. I know they made more then 2 but I was wondering if anyone knew how many with the 3 on the tree and the 307. I know this was the standard engine trans combo didnt know if they made too many of them.

Welcome to the board. Any pics of your 71? I don't recall seeing very many three on the tree Jimmy's or K5's on this board or many with the 307, but I do seem to recall a past post on the subject of the three on the tree. My 70 had the SM465 with the Dana 20 transfer case originally.

i have seen two of them here in northern virginia but that was a long ago time and i haven't seen theme in years

here are some pictures they are the ones that the guy sent me before I bought it. it is in rough shape but I figured I could use a project this is my first auto purchase. I am 20 and at college now itching to get working on it. It does turn over and should run but we will see. The drivers side floorboard is rusted through rockers and such. It needs a tailgate and needs rear quarters repaired. The tub is rusty it originally had a snow plow on it from the dealer and lived in west virginia. That explains the rust.

That looks just like the one from here in Northern Va it had a plow on it as well. Which I laughed about to myself about having the 307 and the 3 on the tree with a plow. Since 3 on the trees can be very tempremental.

yeah i think thats a little amusing too the three on the tree and a plow. does anybody know if the floorboards from a 67-72 pickup are the same as in the jimmy/blazer

The seat brackets that are welded to the pan for bench versus bucket are different. They are the same until you get to the b pillar then the truck is longer like where the gas tank on a truck sits the blazer floor pan mounts to the knee wall. I think some of the supports are different. I am in the process of doing it. about 80% of my floors are being replaced with a combo of a truck floor pan from AZ and patches. They now make a complete truck pan that needs a little altering. There are lots of treads that you can see. Jaros, VT Blazer Big J there are several great threads Good Luck

thanks i saw the complete pans from lmc and didnt think the truck and blazer/jimmy would be to different on the front floor pan. this also might be a dumb question but on the back the floor is the same as a bed on a truck right?

Yes the back is the same as a pickup a short bed is the same except for its a little longer up front. Check out those build threads you will find everything you need
