Identify this rollbar! - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am wondering what this is from or who makes it. It is three pieces and bolts together. when bolted together the floor pads at the back don't really seam to fit flat on the floor. So I was thinking about welding it together. Then I thought even in a roll over it won't do anything since it isn't tied in and even if it is tied in to the frame and welded together. Ss the tube strong enough? or is this thing really just for looks.

I believe we have the same roll bar. Mine was purchased new sometime after 99, and never installed. No idea who makes it though.

On top - Not a Smitty Built or period correct
In the front of the wheel well - could be what some call a 'factory' roll bar

Here's an example of one:

it's on the back of the wheel well. four bolts on the floor then it angles and has two bolts that go through the wheel well.

Its a smittybuilt and they don't & won't make them any more I have begged them.

I bet any fab shop could make you a "factory" or smitty style bar pretty inexpesively - hoop, some down bars and metal plate. Hell, tell them you'll weld it yourself.

Mine is mostly still in the plastic with the hardware in a box. Doubt I will ever install it.

Yes that example is what is in our blazer. Been there since it was new, I would assume dealer installed. And that style is made by Hickey Enterprises by the way. Mine still had the stamp on it.

I've seen a few of those in other blazers as the original poster has described,,,that actually go back farther in the tub.

Whether any of them would be effective in a roll over is hard to say. In NHRA rules (drag racing) which is what I'm familiar with, the rules vary a bit. On a full frame car, the roll bar has to run through the floor and attach to the frame itself.
On a subframe car, the rollbar has to be attached (welded) to a 6'x6" piece of flat steel, that is welded to the floor pan,,,not bolted.

As far as I'm concerned with my Blazer, any roll bar is better than nothing. Although I never plan to roll it and find out how effective it is
