Defrost/Heater Help

Sometimes when I set the defrost controls, the air comes out as if I had the heater on. I'll try to move the controls back and fourth to see if I can jar something loose as if something was stuck, but I don't have any luck. Maybe something's stuck? I'll then stop and let it be and come out the next day to go to work and I'll set the defrost and it will work! What gives here? I haven't begun to try and correct this. I'm thinking a valve is stuck in the unit. Where do I start to try and fix this?

Sounds like the flap in the diverter box is broke.
You can repair or replace.

will have to get whole box......don't think anyone sells just the flap since the rod that runs trough it is in the mold...sure there is a way to fabricate one your self tho.....i have seen some made of sheetmetel. You would take the old one out after cleaning the old one off the rod then spot weld the new metal one in. Sure there are many ways to do this if you have time and resources.

Thanks for the input. Where do I begin? I haven't begun to look at the breakdown as far as finding a starting point. I hope it's easier than it looks.

Something could be broken, or maybe a whole bunch of crap fell into your heater box blocking the flapper
