Taxes!!! Woohoo

So I got my taxes done the other week and should be getting lil over 2 grand back. They say that it should be deposited on monday which would kick arse cause monday is my birthday, kinda like the gov't saying here you go buddy happy birthday do you! Haha anyhow trying to decide on what to do with it, I know one thing I want to do is take half of it and buy a 72 c10 a guy has a couple towns over that is in a million pieces. His project that he lost interest in. Has a motor and auto tranny that I want, and I can take the front and rear ends for my 67 and what ever misc. parts. And sell the rest that I dont need. So be paying attention cause once I take stock of it all I will be having a for sale thread...and I know I will become a supporter first.

Im unsure on what to do with the other half of the money. I want to make it stretch. I need a suspension kit w/ spring cups so I can get the chassi to roller status, and also want to get a rear tank set up. What do you all suggest I do with the other coin?

Also lets hear some of your ideas for what will be done with your refund.

It's just so much money, I don't want to regret spending it in the wrong place!

More like the gov't saying "thanks for the interest free loan that you gave me for the last year"

I am going to owe them a few $$. I guess I won't get the new set of tires I need.

I'm with you there but good ol Cali raised the withholding rate on everyone so they could get the interest free loan. I'm getting back $3,000 from them alone. May start looking for another truck. I'm single but if you have a wife you may want to get her a little something.

I am getting about 8 grand back. I am making a down payment on a house. Hopefully if I can keep from getting laid off this year I will get 11000 grand back next year like I did last year. (I work in the oil field 5 hours from home I have alot of write offs)

$2000, $3000, $8000, $11,000! You guys should really think about better planning if you are getting that much back.

That is YOUR money you are getting 'back'.

My refund - if any - is probably going in the bank.

What I would like to do is purchase an AC evacuation pump so I can finish my non-AC to AC conversion. I have everything. I should say I've had everything for 5 years or so but just cant justify that pump when there are other bills to pay.

Another thing on my short list is a 700r4 for my truck. I've had a core sitting on the shop floor for a couple of years to either exchange or have rebuilt. Since I have a 4x4 I need to purchase the Advanced Adapters output shaft. Then find a rebuilder. However I've been away from the shop for so long I'm not sure who I should have do the work. My fall back plan is to get a bow tie overdrives and send them the core I have in the shop for the next guy.

Another thing I could do with a windfall is rebuild the 1999 vortec 350 I have on a stand in the shop. A co-worker who doesn't know what end of the wrench to hold on to had it start knocking on him. On this forum I've learned that it is common for vortecs to get the intake work done, then start knock-knock-knocking away. When opening up the engine folks are discovering that a little clean up on the crank, some bearings to match that work, and a quick hone in the cylinders and you got a fresh vortec 350. I discovered this co-worker had the intake done recently so I offered to put in a junkyard vortec 350 in exchange for the knocker he has. I figured at worst I'd get a set of vortec heads and a boat anchor of a block. After seeing how much work it was for the swap he ended up writing me a check to cover my MN Wild hockey tickets (5 pairs) and still gave me the junk engine. Long story short with a tax refund windfall I could easily pull the fresh 383 out of my truck and swap in that vortec 350. Then use the 383 in my Chevelle for its planned frame-off.

But with the economy the way it is I'll probably just put the money in the bank to get me by the next furlough at work.

I dont know how much i'm getting back, but I can tell you its going in the savings account.

I'll be getting around $1100 back, part will be for a very needed new computer. The rest, along with some money I have saved up, will go towards the truck. Fuel cell, speakers and amp, carpet, lots of little misc parts, maybe a new complete wiring harness if funds provide.

i still haven't touched the $7000+ i got back last year, went straight to savings. im getting close to that amount again and it will be going to savings as well. my gf is begging me to spend it on the truck and get it done...........cant be mad at that!!!

At least you guys are getting money back-we're gonna owe a chunk of change . My wife and I recently graduated with new degrees from college, and now make too much money to write off the student loan interest (as well as some of our mortgage interest)...I love being punished for doing well.... <SIGH>

I feel your pain. I owe big time also.. I can't clain my kid ins't that one reason to have kids?
