1978 Cheyenne 30 1 Ton

New to this part of the board. I post on the 69-72 Blazer/Jimmy board. I just traded my 95 Gmc short bed step side for a REAL TRUCK 1978 Chevy Cheyenne 30 1 Ton long bed. 454/4 spd working A/C. 89,000 original miles. First and second owners were father, son. The thrid was family freind. I am the forth. I love it!!!! It has one thing I really don't like. It has a 70's sun roof. Who in their right mind would do that to any truck? Here are some pictures.

Are your wheels on the back 16 or 16.5?

Quite a few of us on here are looking for some of those 16.5 x9.75 wheels like yours. Good looking truck.

Great looking truck! Sounds like you traded up to me. Only thing I would do is ditch the running boards, but thats just me.

Yea, I know, I know, running boards But I have a short wife!!!! My 95 had a 305. It was gutless. The short stepside bed was so small I couldn't haul much. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it. I know I traded up!!!! I now have a REAL TRUCK.

I was looking for tires. Kind of hard to find 16.5 tires. Big $$$$$ bucks to.

Looks great! I think the big-n-little tires bother me more than the running boards though.

I absolutely love the story and the truck. The colors are great. Is there any plaid seats under that cover?

Re: 1978 Cheyenne 30 1 Ton

That is one super clean tough truck! I am liking the big and little wheel\tire set-up, when I was a kid everyone had 3\4 and 1ton trucks like that with the same wheel\tire set-up! A big block 1ton is a cool truck, the color combo is nice as well. Enjoy your new ride! Keep the pictures coming!

Nice truck! Now just take off the mud flaps, running boards, and dumbos. You'll be good to go!

Nice truck! I dig the running boards, they look much better on square bodies than most other trucks imo. I wouldn't touch a thing it looks great as is

Re: 1978 Cheyenne 30 1 Ton

Thank for the nice comments. I don't have big plans for it. Drive it and use it like the work horse that it is. Repaint the wheels, white. New rear bumper(has a dent). New carpet. Bed mat. Overhead console with built in speakers. (after I remove the 70's sunroof)!!!!! It drives and rides great for a 1 ton. I love it! I had a 1973 3/4 truck back in the early 80's and I forgot how much I use to like that old truck.

Re: 1978 Cheyenne 30 1 Ton (New Picture)

Painted the (2) wheels white on the drivers side today. Looks better with white wheels. I'll get the other two wheels later. Too cold to paint today so I'll have to repaint them anyway. Had the rails laying around so I put them on to see what it would look like. I like them. Going to leave them on for now. Looks like an old man's truck. I'm getting to be an old man so I guess it's all right.
