whats up.new guy with a sweet arse 77 step.pics
well i picked up this 77 about 2 weeks ago.
im stoked. its got a 383 stroker,202 heads,3:73s posi,th400 with a shift kit,and it runs and drives awesome all the brakes were redone so far ive done a few things to it. swapped out the crusty headers for some new ones. got rid of the cheap mufflers and got some flows welded in. picked up some rallies with spinners and a few other things. my short term plans are: swapping out the tiny 550 carter carb for a holley 750 i just rebuilt lowering it about an inch more all around swapping out the moons for the rallies shocks(belltech nitro 2) possibly getting a fleetside bed(im kinda liking the step though.) and then just getting it tight The rear has a flip kit and im not sure whats done to the front.my guess is chopped springs.it rides decent i have no real complaints.a set of new shocks should make it a little better hopefully.i plan on just cutting the springs up front and getting a shackle kit for the rear, theres a beltech kit for 40$ at an o'reilly's next to me ohhh by the way i love this truck its awesome!!!! And this site is great. |

Cool truck!
I would prefer the fleet bed, but it isn't my truck by the length of the shock and the amount of spring showing, I would guess that those springs are cut.

Re: whats up.new guy with a sweet arse 77 step.pics
cool, thanks guys.
so now i must ask. how much is too much when cutting front springs? i want it down another inch or so.. eventually i will do the right thing, spindles, springs, yada yada... in about a week and a half i will be ordering some new shocks so i figure once im there i might as well do some cutting and see if i really like it. heres a pic of my last ride i had,as you can tell i like em a little...uhhh low no bags just static, sorry for the off topic pic if you guys want i can remove it. |

Springs look cut to me also.
I wouldn't cut them any more, they will end up loose and and you will be riding on the bump stops. Nice truck tho and keep the step bed

Re: whats up.new guy with a sweet arse 77 step.pics
yea decided im just going to man up and order some 3in spindles and 2 springs.
and some shackles in the rear. hopefully i will be sitting pretty then. ohh and i decided im going to keep my wheels i got now,i bought some rallies but once i looked my wheels are 15x10 so im just going sprucn them up a little... i rebuilt a holley 750 va but one of the fuel bowl screws got stripped out so im waiting for the new ones to come in the mail.hopefully that will wake it up a little. |
