Need measurement on stock shackles

Hey guys,

Just got my truck friday (YAY!) The truck was lowered all around but dont know how much. Drop shackles were used in the rear but I dont know how much of a drop. Whats the stock shackle length vs. a drop shackle?

Also is there anyway to tell how much drop was made up front with springs?

shackles usaully give you a 2 inch drop. maybe a picture of the truck will help us deterrmine the front drop.

Re: Need measurement on stock shackles

I would suggest that you check for a suspicious looking bend at the back of your leaf spring. Most lowered trucks I see around here have been lowered by heating and bending the eye down at a 90 degree angle. I wouldn't drive anything with a spring that had been heated and bent.

Your truck does not look like it is lowered. The tires look to be shorter than stock. I'll try to remember to grab a measurement on a shackle for you though. I probably won't be until tomorrow.

Re: Need measurement on stock shackles

So crawled under the truck and started looking around, I think its down 2"s all around. The bed braces? I think, that sit above the shackles have been cut to allow a "taller?" shackle to have room. I will upload some pics tomorrow, going home to take my tow package off.

Re: Need measurement on stock shackles

The amount of leafs depends on the truck, I think there are at least 3 different ones. Not 100% sure but I think 4,5,7 and and possibly more for bigger trucks. I have my springs sitting next the my shop I'll measure them in the morning for ya.

I thought the same thing. I think it's the black wall tires with the black wheels. Gives a false perception.
