painting door side panel and window handle removal

Hey everyone,

Two questions for you:

1) Has anyone painted the plastic door side panels that are on the inside of the doors? If so, what did you use to paint it?

2)In regards to the door side panel, I can remove the door handle easily with my special door removal tool, but the window handle has been a pain. Is there a trick to removing it?

Re: painting door side panel and window handle removal

1) Get yourself either some SEM brand vinyl dye rattle can for interiors in a color you prefer, or get some vinyl paint mixed up at a automotive paint store that you shoot through the gun. I prefer the last one as they can correctly match colors, but if you are doing black or a normal color, you would be fine with SEM. If you are doing a complete interior, I recommend going through a paint store to get enough dye to do more than door panels. The key is to properly clean the panels with a tar and wax remover, or lacquer thinner. If your panels are chaulky, you would be better off getting them lightly bead blasted or getting other panels.

2) The window cranks should come off with the same door handle removal tool. You might try it directly opposite of what you might have tried, as the clips can go on from to angles. Trevor

Re: painting door side panel and window handle removal

Trevor,

Thanks for the advice. I tried prying the window handles from all different angles but I guess I'm not hitting right. Or maybe I need to muscle it more.
