4 wd indicator switch
I've got a 1977 np203 that I would like to put a indicator switch on. My dash has the light and I can run the wire. The question I have is, can I use a switch out of a 81-91 (new from Classic) on the 203 and does it go in place of the detent/poppet plug? Thanks, Tom

Re: 4 wd indicator switch
On the one I used from a 74 there is a plunger type switch on the front (engine side) of the xfer shift lever. You can see the hole/bracket for it in this photo.

Re: 4 wd indicator switch
OrrieG,
I've got a twin stick set-up also. Don't have the production shifter though. I was thinking of making a bracket and doing the same type of thing that you have. Then, I started looking at the assembly/parts books and it shows the plunger type switch on the detent plug for different years. Figured that would be easier than making a bracket-only if I can remove the detent plug and not have the ball or spring fall into the case. Thanks, Tom |

Re: 4 wd indicator switch
Before I did the twin stick, I used a stock shifter that did not have the bracket for the plunger switch. I just spot welded a large washer with the right inside diamenter at the bottom of the case to line up with the shift lever arm.

Re: 4 wd indicator switch
isn't the 203 a fulltime case?

Re: 4 wd indicator switch
I converted mine to part time with a Doug Nash shaft kit.

Re: 4 wd indicator switch
I've also converted this one to a part time. I order a switch from Classic and will figure out a way to install it. Thanks, Tom
