Strange Problems

Alright i have a 84 chevy c10 and when i turn the blinkers on something strange happens.... both front blinkers work how they are suppose to but when i turn the blinkers one way or the other Both back lights light up. also my running/tail lights dont work and my brake lights... any help or ideas on how to troubleshoot this would be much appreciated.

Re: Strange Problems

That's not all that strange, Two common things to check.

Grounding, which this problem is. Should be a black wire that go's to the frame. They will windup broken or rusty at the frame

Some times a good place to start is trailer plugs,I have seen some pretty bad wiring done to hook one up.

Also this may help with wire color,

Left turns are yellow
right turns are dark green
tail lights are brown
backup lights are light green
Grounds are black

Re: Strange Problems

i agree with the ground issue but it could also be a bulb issue check the sockets to see if there is a wrong bulb in the socket a single element bulb (1156) in a double filament socket (1157) can do this or visa versa...only if someone changed a bulb recently or this truck is new to you
