sorry guys...Cut the dash.
I decided today I was going to go away from the OE look and install a modern radio. Here are a few carnage pics.
I also took down the roof mounted rear view and changed it to a glass mounted one I had left over from my 9C1 Caprice And a quick youtube vid And it was a nice day today so I took the panel out for a run around the town, here are a few pics |

Re: sorry guys...Cut the dash.
Yeah, I might have to make something to cover that, or weld a piece in before I paint the dash. And the driving lights can't come off till a new grill is ordered. The PO bone head cut the grill to fit the lights

Re: sorry guys...Cut the dash.
It's all good. Mine is already cut. I am going to fill it with a CB Radio. My truck will be too noisy for music so I will be yelling at trucker over the CB.

Re: sorry guys...Cut the dash.
Do whatever, it's your truck, It's not like your cutting the dash in a 1948 Tucker Torpedo. Or a yenko camaro. Isn't there a member on here that made aluminum piece that would cover up the knob indention? I'll have to search to see if there still available.

Re: sorry guys...Cut the dash.
The only trucks I'd ever leave alone would be highly optioned CST's or Cheyenne Supers. Everything else is fair game. Looks good

Re: sorry guys...Cut the dash.
yeah, I know there are some people there that are against cutting the dash. This one already had the middle area cut to add an aftermarket knob radio. I was going to put an old AM radio back in it and do the CD player in the dash but after thinking about it I said F it and got out the cut off wheel

Re: sorry guys...Cut the dash.
I cut my dash for the radio. Made a plate to go around it. I messed the paint up somehow. I also cut the dash to put in the AC vents.

Re: sorry guys...Cut the dash.
I did the same for my radio. I had the radio in once already to check the fit and the trim piece cover everything up real nice. While I had the radio out I even installed some nice 200amp 4 inch speakers over the radio in the factory location of the single one. That was job and a half, but I got them in there.

Re: sorry guys...Cut the dash.
I like that speaker mount you did. I put one 5.25 speaker there for right now until I get the molded kick panels
