how low can i go?

i have a 70 short fleet wood bed with a cpp c-notch, and wanted to know if it would be worth the work raising the floor to get full use of the notch. how low can i go without raising the floor. anyone have pics with bags, c-notch, 20's and stock height floor. thank you

How did you get that static lolife? That is exactly where I want to be, I have a 71 1/2 ton with 3" spindle, 1" spring, 4" leaf and 1.5" shackle, (disassembled). I may need to re-do this thing.

3" springs (front)
6" springs (rear)
1.5" lowering blocks

IMO... bags will be as low as you can go with only a standard notch in the frame. As far as how 'low' that will be, that will depend on the wheel/tire specs.

If you only go with a static drop, a 4.5/6" drop will be as low as I would go in order to run 20's; unless the specs were spot on and accounted for turning radius and suspension travel, you might be able to go a tad lower, but not without notching the rear as you have done.

For the specs you mentioned above, any standard bag system will allow you to lower the truck as far as possible without major modification.

Mine is a coil spring rear truck.
front:
2.5 spindle
3" drop spring
rear:
6" drop spring
1.5" lowering block

You might need stock rear leaf springs and a flip kit to get the back this low.
(and maybe a lowering block)
You can always trim your front coil springs to lower the front a little more.

dzl1 are you maxed out on the notch or do you have a bigger bump stop so you dont hit the bed floor

You would need bags and 2" blocks to have to utilize the whole notch. You would also have to cut out a small section of the cross member above the differential because the nose of the diff will hit it, and then you'll only gain an inch. This requires raising the floor. If I had to do it again I wouldn't. If I were going to do this much work you might as well try to lay frame. This is my experience with the weld in arch notches.

heres mine - bagged with 3" spindles, cut bottom cups down with upper plates, 2" blocks, 2 1/2" c-notch, stock floor with stock inner fenders front and rear

This is about as low as you can go, the pumpkin is within about 1/8" from the bed floor when it's sitting on the airbag bumpstops. I also have some block too.

Lots of good info here, and some very sweet trucks, I do have more questions. With only a cpp notch (no dropmember) what will hit first? Pumpkin on bed, driveshaft on crossmember or axle on notch? Given that there are no bumpstops. Some one should know this...

With a 2" block,... I would say "pumpkin hits the floor".

I have the bump stops that come with the cpp notch kit. My pumpkin comes close but doesnt hit the bed.

bump stops ?? what are those..My lca hits my x memeber at full dump and the rear axle bottoms out on the c notch and the pumpkin is so close that with my old bed ( junk floor) if you bounced on the floor you could feel it hit.....both are ok as long as you go slow ( like in a smooth parking lot) but about 2" of clearance is all I ever have to the stops..keep in mind also that you have to drive your truck that low or you'll hit very thing and if your running long headers they take it hardest..

static is a drop with regular coil or leaf springs - i.e. non adjustable.
