Re: 1986 siverado tras swappin

Lots of good info on the 700 around. First ? why are you breaking th350s
A stock 700 isn't very tough. A built one will give you good service, just not at junkyard prices. The shift linkage will move back and possibly need a new rod. The cross member should slide back. The drive shaft will need to be shortened. 700s were available with a cable out put so your speedo will work but will need a ratio adapter to be right. You can get by with the stock column, the indicator will not be right. Several people make lock up kits in the 60-75 dollar range. jay

Re: 1986 siverado tras swappin

as to the breaking th350s im not really sure my first one did amazing. but i got a little sloppy and some trans bolts to engine broke cracking the case. the 2nd one i had rebuilt came from a 76 1 ton it just didn't seem right but drove it any way went to pass some one and broke the planitary gear into pieces (i think the guy reused to old one) i had it redone again but the same guy again think must been a fluke but after i got it back truck just would not go did every thing to fix it then snap all i had was forward gears (but now it would go forward and actually respond)

reason for the 700r is my engine does not like highways with one 3 gears even tho i despise these transmissions thought id give them a shot

i do have a plan be i have a 79 c60 that is manual i was trading its 5 speed for a 5 speed for more of a c30 (c60 trans has that 2 speed rear) thinking they are different. but thinking most of the manual components should line up all i should need is the trans tunnel any one else got any ideas
