engine to the shop

what's the best way to transport engine to the shop.....I've always put the motor on an old tire and tied it up so it wouldn't fall...any other ideas out there??

Ronnie,

I have always had success with a tire or a wooden motor crate. Have you asked your builder if he has a wooden motor crate you can borrow to bring him a motor. some have metal motor stands as well. another option may be to call a local dealer and talk to someone in parts to see if they have any used crate motor crates that they are scrapping...

I have a couple of the rolling engine carts that Summit sells. My local machine sh9op even sells them for just a little of nothing. They bolt to the motor mount spots and the back of the block. They are easy to move around with an engine hoist and allows a person to move the engine around the shop without much effort.
