Progress...first trip around the block!!!
Well...I achieved a "milestone" today. It was the first time around the block (under it's own power). Yeah! I think I have all of the "mechanical" work done now and will be focusing on the "sheet metal". I am getting close!

Re: Progress...first trip around the block!!!
Nice detailing in the engine area, looks really sharp. Do you happen to remember the application the upper radiator hose came from?

Re: Progress...first trip around the block!!!
Thanks for the compliment on the valve covers. I like the "old school" look. I guess because I am "old school". (I just had my 54th birthday.) They are an old set of Edelbrock aluminum valve covers that were chrome plated. Then I took VHT "Chevrolet Orange" gloss engine paint and painted the area between the ribs. While the paint was still damp, I took a rag with lacquer thinner on it and wiped off the orange paint from the tops of the ribs and the Edelbrock lettering. (The VHT "Chevrolet Orange" in the spray can is almost identical to the color of the PPG "Hugger Orange". It was super easy and I like the look also. I did it back in high school to the valve covers on my '61 Corvette.

Re: Progress...first trip around the block!!!
Well...another "milestone"...it looks like a truck! For the first time, I have the bed together and mounted on the truck. Now I am really excited! Raleigh at RC Customz is going to finish the painting. I can't wait to get this on the road!!!

Re: Progress...first trip around the block!!!
I am loving that color!!!!!!! Are you going to leave it solid or throw some accents on it?

Re: Progress...first trip around the block!!!
I don't know... Any suggestions? My dad had a garage in Daytona in the 50's and 60's and I had considered putting his old logo on the doors - "Ralph's Garage". I am open to any ideas though. Thanks for the compliments. I have always been a fan of "Hugger Orange".
