New guy here building 66 c10

hey guys i am new here just thought i would post up some pics of the truck i am working on its a 1966 c10 my friends nieghbors son in law left it abandoned on his property told us to come and get it. we were talking to him the motor was replaced and a fully rebuilt 292 was installed in its place. they only drove it 30 miles since the rebuild and then parked for 9 years. m plan is to fix it up and drive it at the same time. going to do a low budget build and down the road bag it. its going to be my daily and family hauler for camping and bikes and stuff like that

when i got it

inside the camper

was going to keep the camper but it was infested with ants and termites ate away all the wood

Re: New guy here building 66 c10

i haave a mexica blanket seat cover now with alot of blues and whites so it matches really well

also driver side panel is put on now had to steal some screw for it off my dads 66 mine snaped off on me

this is all i have for now i have a set of mataching stock rims on it now painted white with thin white walls and out side is going to be painted all blue with the strip in the middle of the chrome pinted white. i was going to paint the roof white also but the gf thinks it looks ugly so its going blue

as for the inside i still have to make a metal plate to go from the dash to the firewall that unbolts to protect the under of the dash and all the wiring so when i spary out the truck it will all be protected from the water. also going to mount 2 more 6.5s alpines on it

I love it! It looks really straight.

Are you sure that's a 292? The side covers look like 250 and the fuel pump is in the wrong place. I could be wrong, but before you buy any parts for it you may want to double-check.

Here's a pic of my '67 292. Notice the size of the side covers and the location of the fuel pump behind the motor mount.

Re: New guy here building 66 c10

been busy working and not alot of time to work on the old truck as of late just. dad had an old 66 that got striped with some parts left so i am taking the motor mounts to probaly switch to a small block and going to section this crossmember about 1 1/4 and pocket the bottom a-arms for bags

got the motor, motor mounts and all but 4 bolts out started to pour down pretty good

Re: New guy here building 66 c10

been awhile since i updated. my 6 blew up on me so i bought a 350 threw my work nd gave it a little rebuild. was going to do a quick swap but as a pulled the old 6 out noticed the old cross-member was pretty messed up so swapped out with 1 1/2" sectioned crossmember. i got the steering box and idler arm moved up 1 1/8" just sent my lower a-arms off to a welder to weld in my lower cups dont quite trust my welds yet to do the suspenion stuff
