I have an idea! Need to know if it will work!
OK, I cant describe a heck of a lot cause I want this to be a first. However, I have an idea for a project that I have been kicking around for a while.
Will the 3/4 or 1 ton 4X4 suspension off of a truck work on a 4X4 blazer? I need the suspension to be stout with what I am considering doing! If ya'll tell me it can then I will be on the hunt for a 4X4 Blazer and suspension from a 3/4 or 1 ton 4X4. Then I will start another build thread. I think ya'll will like where I am going with this one! |

Re: I have an idea! Need to know if it will work!
I don't see why it wouldn't work. If you're just wanting to beef up the front suspension you could install leaf springs with a higher weight capacity. With a sharp brain, welder, and a 6-pack, anything's possible! Then there's the occasional cutting torch and hammer...

Re: I have an idea! Need to know if it will work!
OK, on second thought I think I might just go with a 1-ton 4X4 pickup instead. I was just thinking about the usage of the vehicle when it is done and the 1-ton truck is more along the lines of what I am wanting to do! So if anyone knows where I can come across a good 1-ton rolling chassis (I'm not a body man so body needs to be descent) Let me know.
Heres the idea! I have project Heaven, who's bed goes to body man 6 Mar 10 to be completed. Then I need to do an aftermarket fuel cell under bed (No idea where to get this at). Rear end needs to be replaced while I have bed off(Still looking for a good rear end to do this with). Need to put a 5 lug rear with disc brakes. Then bed remounted. Then going aftermarket EFI on engine. Then whole truck to paint! Rims and Tires and complete!!!!! So I need a truck to tow to shows with. As she gets 1 gallon/15min @ idle. Going to build a 1-ton 4X4 matching paint and rims, but I am going to put a cummins diesel powerplant and train underneath it(Gotten into diesel performance lately). Then I will use the 1-ton to tow Heaven to shows!!!!! Ideas? Opinions? Complaints??? Lets here it!!!! |

Re: I have an idea! Need to know if it will work!
I am glad cause come time for the drivetrain transplant I will have questions. But the 1ton will be used to tow the 67 to shows and it will match paint and rims and tires. This way the towing vehicle matches the show vehicle! I am thinking this will be great!!! One project at a time though. Gotta finish heaven out first. Bed body work is costing me $1300. Man I wish I were a body man!!!!!!!!!

Re: I have an idea! Need to know if it will work!
I know what you mean about those "redneck ideas". I put a stack on my Jeep. It's straight-piped and sounds MEAN. I have never seen a stack on a Jeep before, so I figured why not? I like the plans for the tow rig. Sounds like it's going to be pretty beastly once its all said n' done.
