thinking about buying this 72 shortbed c10, could you guys give me some input

i've always wanted one, and this just popped up and i'm thinking about driving down to look at and maybe pick up.

its bone stock, 84k miles, 350/350 with factory a/c I love how its unmolested, and only has the little rust on it from what i can see along with what looks like original paint.

anybody have any tips for when i go to look at it? He's firm at 5K, hows that for price?

I always wanted to make a sleeper out of a truck like this

I dunno -there's something about how that paint is coming off of there that doesn't seem right. Most original paint I've seen just gradually gets thinner and thinner.

$5K is a good starting price for an original short bed though.

Quite a few red flags on this if he is selling it as a cheyenne super.
Original paint won't come off like that. The woodgrian inside and out doesn't look right to me. No woodgrain on the door panels. Just little things... I guess 5K seems like too much to me for a truck that needs rockers, cab corners, paint etc... Good luck with your decision.

Re: thinking about buying this 72 shortbed c10, could you guys give me some input

well, like mentioned, the emblems don't really match up. the glovebox door has cheyennne super. the fender just says cheyenne. The doorpanels aren't woodgrain. The bezel looks very nice for being original (if its supposed to be). you know, that type of stuff. Just make sure you really check the truck out to make sure everything matches up that is supposed to. Just my thoughts.

Re: thinking about buying this 72 shortbed c10, could you guys give me some input

being in mi looks like the snow an salt and started eating the truck.
besides what everyone else said looks like there's rust on the roof and windsheild area which could be a pain to fix.
if u look at it take ur time an look over the whole truck an crawl underneath to see how bad the rust is.
good luck

Clean appearing truck. Usual issues. Price depends on how hard $5000 is to come by for you. I's say $3500 is a great price. Al W.

It has been repainted for sure, And I would find it hard to believe only 84k miles. These is a lot of things that are not original on that truck. Thats Not to say that it might not be a bad truck to start with though. 5K seems like too much money

Take along a business card type refrigertor magnet.Use it to go over the body to see if it will stick.I don'ttrust that it's factory paint and would check for bondo that way.

Even though it is a SWB definetly not worth 5k original paint or not. I see alot of rust issues in dificult areas specially the roof drip. It could be at best 2,500 only because it is a SWB if it was a long bed 1,500 tops.

I would really put an eye ball on all the usual places that rust gets into. if you can see it on the rockers chances are its everywhere under that cab/ fenders/ bed. the passenger door looks like it was re sprayed in lacquer IMO. take a buddy with you& look it over with two pair of eyes, (might save you from getting sucked in) best of luck, Pat
