speaking of pumps...

Have any of you all encountered this?... My factory water pump on my 350 was a short pump, but had a long pump pattern where the fan bolted on... We couldn't figure out what was wrong with it...the replacements NAPA were either short and with the wrong pattern, or too long with the correct pattern. Come to find out, in fact, the factory water pump was the same # as the '69 Z-28 Camaro. Has anyone else had this happen to them, is the pump in fact the same #, or am I just special?
