In a dilema kinda...keep it or trade
My neighbor has been running a scrap-metal business of sorts to pay the bills and the other day he told me of a Suburban that he is going to haul to scrap. I have not seen it yet but I was told its a 69 half ton and it's very straight. I was thinking about just trading the title and have him haul off my 67 burb (pics below) and I keep the 69 but now I'm not so sure. My 67 needs a lot of rust repair and body work, but I really like the front end and the fact that its a 67 and not many were produced.
One idea I have is to trade hime a couple mid eighties burbs I have (I have an 84 and an 86) that are scrap..the 84 is wrecked but the engine is good so I'm gonna take that, and the 86 is pretty much stripped down and without a title. The only thing wrong with me doing that is I could really use the $$$ from scrapping out those two burbs. I think I'm gonna have a headache for a few days until I figure out what to do. What should I do? Thanks for any advice.

Re: In a dilema kinda...keep it or trade
I agree with otsa. There are many mid 80's burbs floating around. Don't let the 69 get crushed, once its gone.......its gone. I am kinda new to the whole 67-72 thing, I just bought my truck because I thought it looked cool. I had to have it once I saw it. Now since I joined the board I have found that a lot of these guys have the same emotion about their trucks as the Harley and motorcycle crowd that grew up with. Not only do I appreciate my truck but I like the people that are preserving the history. Now that I have my panel, I would like to get a burb one day, so dont make it harder on me... I think you'll be hard pressed to find anyone who thinks you should crush it. If they had a wife forum you might find some votes to crush it there. So anyway I say keep em all.

Re: In a dilema kinda...keep it or trade
Thanks for the advice. I just finished talking with my girlfriend/fiance and she's cool with me trying to get the 69 burb...its awesome having a partner that likes old chevies as much you do. Anyways, now I just have to wait for my neighbor to get the Burb to his place and talk with him about what I'm hoping to do. I think he will be ok with it because he is only concerned with the weight of the scrap metal and I think one of the wrecked burbs will be enough.

I thought scrapping car metal wasn't much money since it's mixed with all the other crap (paint, aluminum, etc)

Re: In a dilema kinda...keep it or trade
I think my neighbor grabs anything thats steel or whatever he can get his hands on. I don't know what all he takes, but its been helping him get by. I'm hoping he will work with me on trading the 69 burb for my wrecked 84 burb.
One possibility if I get the 69 burb is to get it running and see if my brother might want it. The 84 Burb I wrecked was supposed to be his. I was storing it for him (paperwork was in my name too) until he got a place of his own...he's buying a condo right now and hopes to be able to get a house soon. I'm anxious to get home from work so I can talk to my neighbor more about the possible trade.

Re: In a dilema kinda...keep it or trade
hats off to you for trying to save a classic burb. and i also agree, as vintage as 80's burbs are right now, a junker will never amount to the collectible value of a 69. park it on a high and dry spot and put a cover on it until the day comes to restore it!!

Re: In a dilema kinda...keep it or trade
I talked with my neighbor and its all set. He's going to drop off the 69 burb and take away my wrecked 84. I can't wait for that to arrive!!!
