Re: hei Question?

Sounds like he used the wire as some sort of weird ground setup... If you don't have a tach... you can pitch it.

You just need to have the ignition wire plugged in to the "batt" side of the HEI for power...

Re: hei Question?

HEI's have two terminals, one is the power supply (Ignition on) and one is the tach connection (transmits RPM). So when you say Tach/Battery terminal, they are two separate terminals.

Is there two wires going to your HEI? If there is only one wire it is your power in, and what ever your PO spliced into it.

Re: hei Question?

X2 batt is power for the HEI but if there is a wire comeing from the tach terminal and you have no tach it could be a kill switch the po wired in. If you ground the tach wire it will kill your spark (old school kill switch)

Re: hei Question?

if the Battery wire is split and running towards the radiator, it might be a source of 12v+ for an electric choke??? Might check to see if you have power or ground on the wire in question with the key on
