Are you going for a frame off resto or 100% original ride? If so, you're going to pay for that truck in good shape. However, you'll probably find one if you're patient.

If not going for 100% original, just buy a plain jane swb and make it a super. Much cheaper initial purchase price and you can make it how you want it.

I did think about getting a reg c10 and making it look like a super so I can build it to my taste. You think it will cost more in the long run?

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

Yeah, 7K really won't buy a you a swb Cheyenne Super these days. It would be a pretty rough truck to get one at that price. You can probably find you a decent swb around $4,000-5,000 and buy the Super pieces to make one, it would probably be atleast another $5,000 in parts to make a Super out of regular truck. All the parts add up over time to acquire nice stuff. If you really aren't going for show quality stuff, the price will be lower of course. Trevor

I can't believe you can't find anything on craigslist in Cali...

Did you try the "Trucks for Sale" on here?

TYPE CRAIGLOOK in google and use the CRAIGLOOK site to find truck's , this site only shows ads that are current and not just in one area ,,

here is one for $7500 atlanta GA.

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/1598742531.html

I'm with the rest of the guy's a 72 super for that money is GONNA BE ROUGH !

one other thing you could do if you want one bad enough is buy a longbed they are alway's in better shape there's more of them and they are cheaper ,
you could do a short bed conversion ,,,

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

Thanks for all the info guys. There is lots of nice trucks far away from california. What do you guys suggest for buying a truck thats a couple of states away if i go that route? Its a little scary sending some one across the country a couple of thousand dollars and wait here with my fingers crossed that he puts it on the shipping truck. Whos has done this and any advice on how to make a purchase from another state?

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

Thats not something I would recommend doing unless it was someone you really were familiar with. If its a state or two away I would just go pick it up. Road trip.

Yeah I've done this before, I found a good deal on a car 500 miles away so I asked if the seller could pick me up at the airport, he said yes. so I hopped a plane and was home later that day with a killer deal. another time when my wife found her mustang it was 600 miles away, that time we drove there picked it up and drove back in separate cars. If the price is right then it is worth it. Good luck with the search.

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

I agree. Road trip if necessary. But something should show up within a couple hours of where you are. I looked for my '67 for a while, couldn't find anyting, finally found mine, and as soon as I bought it, 4 or 5 became available. One other thing - right now it's pretty much a buyer's market. There are not that many people looking for older fuel guzzling trucks right now, and that's to your advantage. Good luck with your search and keep us posted. BTW, it seems a lot of really nice trucks come out of Eastern Oregon for some reason, and that's not that far for you. Look at the Craigslists up there, as well as the online newspapers.

If you can wait till next month, try the Pleasanton car show/swap meet, but you'll need a little more cash for something decent.

Re: Trying to buy a truck but no luck

Instead of limiting yourself to just 2 years... search for 67 - 72 trucks. I know a lot of guys want the 71 and 72 for the 5 lugs and front disc brakes. But if you're lookin' to drop that kind of cash on a truck... you can covert a 6 lugger to 5...

If I had my druthers I would like to have my 1967 Chevy Step Side pickup back. But for now I have my 1972 GMC LB.
