Anyone want to trade cabs?

Anyone interested in trading their restored C10 cab for my un-restored cab, plus boot. I'm willing to travel up to 300 miles from west central Ohio and deliver my 70 C10 un-restored cab and the cash in the deal. My cab has a decent floor but, will need the usual rockers, corners, drip rail etc. I'm looking for a completely restored cab, minus paint, I can bolt on my frame and go.
I'm not a body guy and I figured this would be better than paying someone to do the work and we would both know exactly what we are getting into. If you are interested send an email to - mail at holthomestead.com and I will provide pictures of my cab.

Re: Anyone want to trade cabs?

I'm not searching for the deal of the year and I am willing to pay top dollar for good work. Just figured someone may want to earn a few bucks at something they are good at.

Also, I don't need the cab right away, sometime in the next 4 to 6 weeks will be good. A few pics of my cab below.

Re: Anyone want to trade cabs?

I don`t think this is a bad approach.Seems like a reasonable quest. It`s not like it`s a junk cab being offered.

It is in good shape but has considerable rust in the drip rail and some bondo from a previous owner. I am not trying pull anything over on anyone, but, instead I am looking for a solid deal for both parties.

I just do not have any body work skills. Will rebuild frames and engines all day long though. Below is a pic of my frame as is now.

Re: Anyone want to trade cabs?

wow that cab looks like its in GREAT shape. I would think it'd be cheaper to fix drip rails than 2500 for a complete cab. Your bottom part looks solid (may not be though in actually)

I think it could be a good business idea as well. This way you don't have to drop off your cab at a body shop and wait for who knows how long to only receive inferior work in the end. A person can see the work he is buying up front and the person doing the work can see what he is getting in trade and the right deal can be made for both parties.

Re: Anyone want to trade cabs?

I think it would be worth your time and money to hook up with my bodyman here in Missouri. He is just west of St Louis off of I70. He is also a member of this board.

Re: Anyone want to trade cabs?

Any specific reason you don't want to work with a body shop?

Just because of the horror stories I've heard about how long it can take a body shop, how the shop runs over budget and needs to charge more before finishing, how the work can be shoddy when they need to move it out...etc. I don't know of any body shops in my area so I need to locate them, then find references...I really don't want to manage the body shop process.

I figured it would be better if I can grade the work up front and know what I'm paying for. From my understanding the cabs are pretty universal on these trucks besides the big block window (67) and A/C, so it seems like a straight forward approach.
