Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

I know they sell lowered sway bar mounts for lowered trucks for the 67-72s but do they have any for our trucks. These mounts are the front two on the frame they move the sway bar closer up to the frame, would help out from my sway bar rubbing.

Re: Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

You have two options to choose from. You can use the lowered sway bar mount from ECE, or you can bolt the bushing clamps directly to the frame. If your truck is mildly lowered, the lowered mounts will probably give you the best angle. If your really low or bagged, bolting directly to the frame may best fight your needs.

Re: Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

thanks mine rite now its just mildly lowered but i will be lowering it more eventually or bag it. The mounts just rub on speed bumps, steep drive ways and parking stalls. Going to have to order me up a set thanks.

Re: Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

no isn't the 3/4 ton sway bar thicker?? It would handle better with that right, was also thinking of using 3/4 ton coils so its stiffer. I think it would handle a lot better

Re: Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

Alright looks like me and you have a race on who does it first ahahah. I will go look for the sway bar and springs soon. Hopefully find some for a decent price at good old pick and pull. I think it'll ride a lot better. I want to put a rear sway bar in mine also.

Re: Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

Been on there for 10+ years. '72 stock ride height, planned on lowering but never got around to it.

You can see that bolting directly to the frame will buy another inch of clearance.

Re: Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

I dont know i wish. I looked up some before there about 160 for the kit. Be nice if there was one that we could make fit. Anyone on here have this set up 3/4 ton sway bar, coils and a rear sway bar if so how does it ride??

Re: Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

One other option is to mount you sway bar on top of the factory brackets.
I believe that will move the sway bar up 1 1/2-2", but you might have to remove at least one bracket to get the bar on top.
I didn't have the factory brackets, so I just mounted mine directly to the frame on my '80.

will this fit on our trucks?

ECE doesn't list it for us, but it LOOKS like it would work. if so, i'ma order it

also, whats everyone recommend for upgraded sway bars?
I've got a stock unit in the front and a hellwig in the rear(which is actually the same size as the front, hence having more oversteer than wanted)

Re: Lowered Sway Bar Mount??

Everything that I have read on here about the rear sway bars from the Camper Special (hard to find trucks, at least here) is that they will pretty much just bolt on. May take a little adapting to your rear end, but seems to be straight forward.

I too have been looking for one to help mine stop handling like a soup bowl.

Yes. Camper Special trucks had the rear sway bars stock.
