New member from Arlington,TN

Hello,
I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Looking forward to being a part of the community. I started a frame off resto on my '85 GMC SWB back in November. This is what it looks like now.

Welcome from the Sunshine State !!!

Looks like you have your hands full there, I'm still working on my 74 body off.

What direction are you heading with it ?

Stock/bagged/shaved.....

Re: New member from Arlington,TN

You aren't lying about me having my hands full. I'm having alot of fun with it though. I've wanted one of these trucks for a long time. I plan on doing a few mods on it . I'm going to upgrade the instruments and drivetrain (350 w/ 700R tranny) some new upholstery but other than a set of drop spindles and shackles for the rear it will maintain a stock look. Haven't decided on a color yet ( thinking about painting it to match my Harley, black pearl).

Re: New member from Arlington,TN

Here you go . It's a Ultra that I made into a Street Glide by installing low profile seat and windshield, all quick detach docking for the tour pack, wiring and lower fairings. We take a road trip on it once a year so I had to be able to put everything back on without alot of hassle. Rode to Las Vegas on it in '08.

Sweeet Bike !!!

Well.... You opened a can of worms now....

It was my DD for nearly 8 years, The trans took a dump so I parked it for a couple years before doing anything with it.

Back eight years ago when I started I didn't own a digi camera much less a computer, I only have a couple pics taken with one of those disposable cameras before I stripped it down.

I haven't had time to work on it in the last three + years so I don't have any progress pics because I haven't made any progress....

The complete drive train/running gear is finished, This is where I left off after getting the floor sand blasted and sealed;

This blurred photoshop is what it's supposed to look like one day....

I'm hoping to keep rolling on mine but the weather here has slowed me down quite a bit. I'm about to redo the suspension and rearend before the body man gets a hold of it.

I know all about the weather thing, I'm hoping to get back on it when it warms up. I've got my 97 lookin good enough for cruise-in's and shows for now. Problem is.... I'm a one man show and only have time to work on toy's on the weekends, I got ripped by a local body shop and have since decided to do EVERYTHING all by myself.

Do you have any pics of your rig before you stripped it ?

Re: New member from Arlington,TN

Unfortunately I only have a couple of pictures of it before I jumped in with both feet and started working on it. Now that I look back I wish I had taken more. The thing is, I saw this truck for years sitting a t my neighbor's house and I kept bugging him until he finally caved and sold it to me . I had thought about so many ideas for it as soon as I got it to the house I started working on it. I'm hoping to get it done by the fall if the money don't run out. I'm doing as much as I can myself as well in my spare time so there's the time issue as well. Here's the only pictures I took before tearing it down.

Re: New member from Arlington,TN

Dang man,

Looks like your starting off with a pretty dern straight truck there, I've had to replace cab sheet metal above the driver's door along with left rocker and right cab corner. I still have to do a couple patches in the right floor pan.

Luckily I found the rust free bed there in the pics (red lower area) since mine was shot, Also ended up buying a brand new complete front clip since I had banged mine up right after I got it, Just drove it banged up for years since it was a DD.

You need to go HERE and start you a build thread so we can keep up with your progress, I may start one when I get back on mine but will have to see......

Re: New member from Arlington,TN

Yea that's why I wanted it so bad . It's never been wrecked and had only two small dings on the whole truck. I got real lucky with it. There is a little surface rust here and there but nothing major. The motor was DOA. I been meaning to start a build thread on it so appreciate the link.

Welcome from NW Washington. When I showed my wife the picture, she said NO I could not work on the engine in the livingroom!
Looks like you are making some good progress. Good luck.

I guess it was not Kghtrdr272's engine in the livingroom, sorry.
