If I haven't already said this, to the forum.

Now, just so you know, we also have an engines/drivetrain forum. If you don't get the answers you are seeking with this thread, I can move it for you. Someone here has done what you are asking about and will let you know how it goes.

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

A friend of mine put that intake on his 4x4 and a TBI spacer and it seemed to get a bunch more torque from it, if you stick a bigger cam in it you will give the computer a headache trying to smooth out the rough idle. You will have to have the computer worked/flashed to compensate for the cam.

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

Not intending to hijack the thread, but would a holley direct factory replacement with 670cfm be better than this edelbrock factory replacement? Better as in more torque and hp.

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

well from what i have heard the injectors that come in the holley replacement tbi's are really bad. i would go to www.rvmorsemachine.com or www.xtremefi.com and get the modified tbi base. that way you can use all your stock parts off your existing tbi, get a good flowing tbi, and modifyable to a degree for less money. and as far as the intake/cam from edelbrock i would call to see if the chip that they have available and see if it is compatable with the performer cam that they have that matches that intake. otherwise you can go to www.tbichips.com and have them burn you a chip that will match what you have. all you have to do is tell them the specs of everything in the motor like the tbi, the intake(stock or aftermarket), the cam, the heads(stock swirl port, tbi or aftermarket), trans, rear gears if you know them, and any motor mods you may have done like: air intake, exhaust, pulleys, rocker arms, tbi spacer. basically all you gotta do is tell them anything that you have done to the motor.

in case you havent got gaskets yet, i would recomend the black felt gaskets over the blue felpros,

The GM Gaskets are the best with Victor in second IMO

One of the good things about Edelbrock, is their technical expertise. As a customer, you should be able to pose any issues you have with the product and they should be very helpful in resolving your problems.

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

did you send in the card supplied to get the chip that matches the intake?? the chip doesn't cost anything but the postage to send the card in. that might be the issue

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

Tbichips.com is the way to go hands down. He burnt my chip about 4 yrs. ago to my specs. Just tell him what mods you want or that you are planning on going with and he will take care of you. Just to let you know I took my buddys Hypertech stage two chip out of his 94 which is has the same mods as mine and plugged it into my truck just to see which one worked the best and the one from TBI blew the Hypertech out of the water.

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

Thanks guys for the info.I found a timing light and discovered it was one inch out of timing. Fixed that problem and runs like a scalded dog. Wow what a difference and inch makes. I forgot about the card for the chip started filling it out and it ask about the RPO codes. They are not readable in my glove box. Do you know how i can obtain them?

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

well did you check the timing with the est connector unplugged or was it plugged in? Also did they tell you what to set the timing base at?

I ask because my stock rebuilt tbi350 called for zero tdc on base timing and it sucked. I had to jack mine around(advance) about that much to make a difference and run alot better. Alot of ppl said oh no you gotta put it back to zero, that's what it calls for and now it's lean and you are tricking the computer, it'll take the timing out anyways they said. it absolutely would not run over 40mph when it was at zero, the motor wasn't revving high but it was to the floor and wouldn't go faster. if I had to go back to that I'd sell the truck.

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

I checked it plugged but adjusted unplugged. After adjustment plugged it back in dissconnected neg battery to reset the computer and it worked awsome. What a difference. I went with what was on the emissions sticker under hood which is 0. Any position other than that was awful.

Re: 91 350 Tbi Intake

i'm in the same boat as benoit454 as far as the timing is set on my 94 with its 4.3. i ended up having to advance my timing to about 2-3 advanced cause of runnability(stuttering/stumbling in od) issues that i was having at the same speed, which for my truck is overdrive. glad to hear that you got it fixed. timing should always be checked after the dizzy gets taken out and put back in for anything. you may have it installed correctly, but the advance may be way off. when i pull a dizzy i always mark where the rotor was pointing to on the base so i can get it roughly where its supposed to go, unless i'm putting in a new one, then reset the timing after it gets put back in

Take your VIN to a GM dealership parts counter. Ask them to look 'em up. You don't need all of them, so just get the info you need.

Oh, you might want take some wobbly pops to the counter dude as an incentive.
