292 Build or scrap?

I have a 292 in the truck I am building and I read somewhere that a pre 1975 head will go on to it and then I can get a aftermarket intake a header. I am not looking to make a ton of power so I thought the 6 would be a lil different. If anybody knows if the whole head thing will work that would be great.

Re: 292 Build or scrap?

i think it will swap ive built a six, it was a 225 plyouth slant six,

its kinda differnt as you said and you could get perty good power from one. offenhouser makes a 4bbl intake for these engines and clifford performance makes alot of speed parts also like cams and headers, hooker might make headers for them to. but avoide clifford becouse they have been known for some shiping issues but also check out summitracing.com and look up a 292 there are alot of hot rod parts for them old sixes no joke.

Re: 292 Build or scrap?

Gotta find me a head now. I would like to send the block out and get it cleaned up and bored a lil bigger if I can find bigger pistons. I like the multiple carb intakes and I can get a borla header from work since they throw therm out when they scrap the trucks. Hopefully the search for a head turns somthing up.

Re: 292 Build or scrap?

Yes, keep it I had a 250 in a Blazer and it had a decent amount of power for how worn out and abused it was. It simply refused to die, no matter how many times it ran out of oil and started knocking
