Oh man, a dream come true. That looks so sweet in that engine compartment. I hope you can get some of the power to the ground.

Re: 572 update
Throw twin turbos on there, then you can flip those headers over!! Might need to drop that compression a bit though...

Re: 572 update
Sanderson makes a set that will work. That's what Stacey David used on Copperhead. I don't remember the part number, but they will know what ones you need.

Re: 572 update
Wow. Dumb question, is a 572 bigger than your average BBC? Seems like every type of build I see with one there are issues with fitment, even on factory big block vehicles.

Re: 572 update
Chevrolet began offering a 572-cubic-inch (9.4 L) "crate motor" in 2003 which produced 720 hp and 685 lb·ft of torque, and more recently a 620 hp / 650 lb·ft version capable of running on 93 octane street gasoline... This is the Beast of all beasts the biggest of the crate motor Big blocks.

Re: 572 update
The deck height is different, standard BB deck height is 9.2" I believe and the 572 has a deck height of 10.5" so basically it makes the distance from one side of the valve covers to the other wider, makes things a little tighter.
Oh and the Tranny is a 4l85E from GM and I will be using thier recommended controller, along with a Cable-X system to retain the factory speedo, There will be a detroit locker goin in the rear and a ladderbar system to hold it all together. I will post picks as things progress. Last edited by handsomerob; 02-24-2010 at 01:35 PM. |

Re: 572 update
Haha, thanks Petey, I was meaning physical size. I saw an overhaulin' where they had to make their own headers to fit it in a '73 Z/28. I was always thinking, "Why didn't they just use BB Camaro headers?" Now I was thinking the same thing with this project. Thanks for the info Rob.

Re: 572 update
Even though it has been answered, yes the 572 is a different BBC casting all together, and will not except normal big block brackets, as so I heard on Overhaulin' years ago. Trevor

Re: 572 update
Canadian Tire probably sponsored him. They figure they'll make it back in rear tires.
