Neighborhood Trucks

Just took a drive to the hardware store and then the grocery store. Decided to bring the camera along.

Across the street from my house.

In the same yard.

Over by the hardware store.

On the way back.

I actually got out of the truck for this shot of a cherry 46.

Down the road from the house.

Yeah, I know it's a dump truck. I just like them...I don't know why.

I didn't go looking for anything and only uploaded about 3/4 of what I snapped and only took pictures of about half of what I saw...and I skipped most of the Fords.

I may go driving aimlessly around this weekend and see whats what.

So, what's in your neighborhood?

Where do you live - 1975? Are you in a time warp?
That is one pile of older vehicles in your neighbourhood.
The oldest vehicle I see in my neighbourhood is a 2001 Pontiac.

I wish I lived in his neighborhood - so many pieces of eye candy to see daily... Definitely more like Greg63, hardly any cars pre 2k! But I'm trying to set my yard as an example: (2) 64 caddies, (3) 60-66 trucks, (6) datsun z-cars (I was young and stupid)... how come so few people in the world have the GOOD lawn ornaments - and why are they all in his neighborhood???

Re: Neighborhood Trucks

There use to be bunches of old cars within 5 miles of my house up until about 10 years ago. At least seven 46-48 Chevy coupes and sedans, a few late 40's Buicks, a 57 Chevy 2 door hardtop, a complete 1950? F1 pickup with trees growing all around it, etc. About all that's left now is a dead Packard from the late 40's with a tent shed collapsed on it, and this 4-5-6 Chevy long bed. It truly is a yard truck. For a long time it sat in the yard with trash in the back, then it got emptied out and moved to the street where it continues to collect trash. Every now and then it gets dumped out and left to fill up again. Too bad it isn't loved more. It's got what appears to be a nice hood, grille, doors, and glass. It wouldn't take that much to fix it up.

Re: Neighborhood Trucks

I've seen this one a time or two in this guys yard, but he always has it tucked in behind others so I was never able to get a pic. Drove by today and he had it out and by itself. Decided I would take a pic and share with you guys. Sorry the quality isn't great.

Re: Neighborhood Trucks

Do I live in 1975? Hmm. I hadn't thought of that, but that sure would explain home values around here.

Here's the guy up the street.

Here's one of the many big open lots next door to some lil' house that seem to be all over the place around here. Easy to see where all the money goes.

The rest of the photos from today's jaunt are kinda blurry because I got tired of slowing down to gawk.

Unless you like old cars.

Or vans.

I have to go into town tomorrow to get a thermostat switch dealie so I'll bring the camera along and see what turns up.

Re: Neighborhood Trucks

Sure. How does 5 acres, a barn, and a house for 160K sound? Down the road is a place that has 6 acres, a detached garage with a chain hoist set up for 200K. It's across from the Cemetery so you could probably talk them down.

Up the road in Ash Fork it's Hella cheaper. 38 acres with a small house for 100K or so.

But down here in civilization we have a Safeway and a Taco bell so home values reflect that.

That picture in your signature - is that taken from your kitchen window?
I may not be interested anymore.

Re: Neighborhood Trucks

The avatar thingy? It's the only pic I have that small enough to fit. It's the same picture and handle I use on other sites. I'm too lazy to come up with snappy names and/or resize pitchurs.

Say, that reminds me. Saw this on the drive out to AZ. Some Brit was hauling a 55 with it. He's going home to let it rust out I suppose. Seems a shame.

Appears to be a Armbruster - Stageway rig. There is one of these near me but the owners have it hidden away... Nice shot!

Oh ok. Cool man. Im not up on 60-66 trucks, but I like this one. Is it a pretty rare truck? I've never seen a 60-66 crew cab. Thanks.

I'd KILL to have a house and workshop for 200k. I'm stuck in a 1000 sq ft. apartment worth 220k. It's over a million $ for a house and workshop on 1 acre here. Time to move, I think.

Wow, you live in a target rich environment for old rolling stock. Looks like the yellow Chevy 1/2 ton shortbed 4x4 has old California plates on it.

Re: Neighborhood Trucks

Well, for anybody thinking of moving you should know that there isn't a whole heck of a lot of employment opportunities here. It's a lifestyle change for sure.

I used to live in Petaluma Ca. It's where they filmed part of American Graffiti. There, it's old car...um...old restored pimped out car heaven. And it's expensive as heck to live there.

Here, it seems like this is where old Fords and Chevy's and GMC's and International Harvesters go to retire. Most of them are just sitting there.

I dunno, I'm as surprised as anybody else. I had no idea all these "lawn ornaments" were here...or why exactly.

Know what's worse? Both sets of pics I took? All I did was turn right at the end of my street.

Maybe tomorrow I'll turn left.
