Sheetmetal

I need both sides and the front panel for my 67 1/2 ton swb fleetside bed. Are the aftermarket parts worth buying, or should i try the recyclers in arizona etc?

Re: Sheetmetal

I used an aftermarket bed side and front panel and they fit great. I didn't have to do any work to them at all. I believe they were made by "counterpart". The only down side is it is slightly thinner metal. Not flimsy. Still pretty solid, but slightly thinner.

Re: Sheetmetal

To MT1972cheyenne, or anybody else for that matter,

To clarify, when saying a repo part is made of thinner metal, how is that compared to the sheetmetal used in today's trucks.

Thin gauge bedsides, or a hood I am cool with that (as long as they fit). Tailgate or doors I would chose carefully.

Re: Sheetmetal

I have aftermarket bedsides, fenders and front panel... It's a different alloy than OEM so it seems "thinner" but I think it's just a little "softer" if you know what I mean....

I wouldn't suggest a tailgate (too soft) or the doors (poor fit) but a lot of guys use the other items...

Re: Sheetmetal

If I cannot find NOS, I am going with repo bedsides. They are one aftermarket item that I have not heard any complaints about.

Re: Sheetmetal

you'll find NOS bedsides on here, for about $3,000 a set. good rust free metal would be my first choice iff you have time and money... I picked up my bedsides for under $800 set...
