A/c And Header Help ?

hey everyone I have a question about headers and the A/C compresser bracket? I have posted a pic of the problum area. Can I run A/C with headers? I have hermon (sp) headers and the bracket dose not seem right.

so dose anyone have A/C with the headers/ and could I see a pic of how it was done. or do I need to get differant headers?

I checked mine and I do not have the
bracket.

My truck had headers when I purchased it and I believe that the bracket was left off when the
headers were installed.

It appears that the purpose of the bracket is to line the back of the compressor with the front. This would
make it easier to line up the belt.

I have always lined the belt by sight
and the upper bracket that attaches
to the intake manifold.

It looks like the bracket would not be
to hard to modify to fit. It appears that
there is a problem with it fitting around
the front exaust pipe.

Mine has worked fine without it for
the approx 200,000 miles I have had the truck.

Did you have to midify the frame rail for
the right header to fit?

Mine had the same install when I purchased it. Since then took them off. The right side like yours rubbed the frame. And was touching the brake lines, playing all kinds of hell with the brakes.

Simply use a piece of tubing to bring the bracket out to where it is almost perpendicular.

You may have to grind the end of the tubing a little, depending on the header brand.

Measure your old bolts, and get some new ones at your local bolt supply. Make sure they are the right grade for the job.

I think the header companys make a fabricated bracket. I got mine at a local speed shop. Summit may have them. Good luck john
