Holes in Blazer
Hey all, I've got a 1972 blazer. On the sides below the wide trim, just in front of the wheels, in the lower panel, there are 2 holes on each side. they are about 1/8" diameter and 5.5 inches apart. They look to me like factory holes. What were they used for, an emblem maybe? I tried takin a pic, but I'm not too computer savvy. thanks

Re: Holes in Blazer
geez I tell you what. I got a tape out and them holes are right on the nuts, both sides are the same, factory perfect. My paint is original and theres a bit of rust round the holes, I 'm gonna assume they been there for a long time. No bur on the inside from a bit either. I was thinkin maybe some dealer had his tag there, but theres no rub marks of any kind. Just cannot give up this easy.

Re: Holes in Blazer
Could it have been from some side steps? Rock guards?

Re: Holes in Blazer
Nope. Like I said, the are only 1/8 in. diameter hole with no sign of rub marks. I got this blazer from the second owner (he bought it from his father in 74). I guess I will give him a call. Maybe he will remember. I will keep you posted,

Re: Holes in Blazer
Sure they aren't for the trim?
IIRC, that piece of trim does use screws...? |

Re: Holes in Blazer
In that picture the trim happens to be missing. On my blazer the trim is on and these holes are located below it about 4 inches.

Re: Holes in Blazer
Nothing factory. And the dealer wouldn't put his sticker down their. Only guess I would have would be marker lights.

Re: Holes in Blazer
I spoke with the guy I bought the blazer from. His father bought it new. Anyhow, I brought it over and showed him the holes. He said that at one time it had a gvw emblem on each side. He knew one had busted in half and he took the other one off. He thought he might even have it, but it had been years since the removal and couldnt remember where he put it. He said he would look. I'll keep on him.. So was it a factory emblem, my guess is no.
