Re: How can I relocate my tank....

how much $ ya lookin at spending. Chepaest way would be blazer tank (currently doing one to my 68) or a summit racing tank.

If your lookin' at spending some coin fuelcellguy made some really good lookin tanks..

Whats your budget, also where is millington tn? im in middle tn.

No step by step but searh around check out my build thread in the next few days i'll be installing mine i'll have some pics/info for ya.

What kind of filler can I use with my blazer tank. For now i'll proly be cuttin a hole in the bed floor. What can I use (looking for a lid or some kind, dont want to be permanent though). Thanks

Re: How can I relocate my tank....

Well as far as money goes i'm kinda strapped and some good info on what to look for in a scrap yard would be most useful! Doesn't have to be pretty, just efficient! If I use a blazer tank, what years should I use, and will i need an electric fuel pump? I don't even care if it sits in the bed as long as it works!!!!!!!! Thanks for the advice!!!!

Re: How can I relocate my tank....

You don't need an electric fuel pump, just need to re-plumb your fuel line. If you are a little strapped, ask yourself why you are doing it in the first place - it doesn't create any more room in the cab (except for an amp) and it doesn't make the truck any safer. I opted to leave mine where it was, and I had the resources to do pretty much whatever I wanted.

Well I guess I just want to get it out from behind me, and I plan on putting in some newer seats with a console and would like to have as much room as i can. I mean, i should be able to do it with a couple hundred bucks right? Thanks for the advice tho.

Re: How can I relocate my tank....

You can probably take the tank out from behind the seat and put it in the bed up against the cab.We just did this on a Ford and it fit about as perfectly as you could ask for. The bolt holes in the tank lined right up with the lip on the bed making it really easy to bolt in.

Out of sight, out of mind! I guess I am a little paranoid as far as theft or vandalism, so I am going under the bed on my build.

Re: How can I relocate my tank....

I have seen a salvage yard Dodge Dakota tank used very inexpensively.

I do not know what year it was that was used. Like cdowns said, do some measuring and then hit the salvage yards.

There is a thread somewhere using an S10 tank. It was pretty low budget.

Looks like you finally sold the bumper ya bought from me. There is no real cheap way to do this conversion but there is plenty of info on the site. Just do a search and there is tons of stuff that will come up.

Re: How can I relocate my tank....

Going to purchase a 75 lwb today for a donor. Will the gas tank off of it fit under the bed of my 68? Has anybody here used one of those? Also if i can use the 5 lug setup off of it that should mean that my stuff should go back on the other right? I'm just going to turn around and re-sell the truck after i'm done getting the parts i need off of it.
