250 inline 6.. headers, cam, intake, 4 brl??

I have a stock 250 in my c-10 short bed chevy.
I have headers and a four barrel intake from clifford racing.
I am looking into getting a 264 Hydro Clifford Cam (comes with lifters, pushrods, springs and retanor clips), as well as needing to get a Webber 38 Carbuerator to go allong with the package.

I am looking to gain a little power but still keep a nice ride to where i dont have to work on the motor every weekend. I want to be able to start it up and drive it without having all of the problems that I am having with my single barrel carbuerator that is on the stock intake right now.

If anyone has any sugestions I am all ears.

Also If you know of any other companies other than clifford racing 6=8, where 6 cylinder parts can be purchased?

Thank You

That will be a nice setup and will work well for you. For a little cheaper carb, an Edelbrock 500cfm would work very well right out of the box. Also, the Offy intake might work a bit better over the Clifford.

www.stoveboltengineco.com is run by Tom Langdon and is a great company for 6 cyl parts. There's also a supplier in AZ, but he mostly deals with the earlier gen 6 cyl's.

Have some head work done. Bigger valves and mill the head.

Before doing any mods I would first do a compression check and make sure the engine is worthy of the upgrades.Like low'n slow said the heads need help on these 6 cyl. They flow like molasses.
I would suggest the first upgrade be an HEI.By far one of the best mods to do to any truck of this era.

Re: 250 inline 6.. headers, cam, intake, 4 brl??

Thanks for the info everyone, I did rebuild this motor about 5 years ago taking it down to the block and having it boiled and new pistons along with everything new from the crank to the velves, so it is still a new motor, and only has about maybe 20,000 miles on it.

I am going to look into that Edelbrock 500cfm.

Most any cam grinder makes cams for the GM I-6. Crane, Crower, Erson, Isky, and Schneider are a few that come to mind. Doug's, Hedman and Hooker make headers. All you gotta do is look around...

I'll second this one for sure. Totally acts like a different setup completely to me... I'm not into setting the gap/dwell at prescribed intervals (and I'm not exactly good at it to begin with) - it's one of those things that if you just dont have the time/good know how, the HEI does away with for you.
Having done the engine recently, I might not be telling you anything but for anyone else reading..... welll... and, I haven't posted in like 6 months I don't think!

+2. It's the first thing I do with a new truck.

How will you set up the Carb linkage? I just install the Clifford Man with Edle Carb and now I am trying to figure out what to do about the Throttle Linkage. Lokar Cable?

I used a '71-'72 throttle cable set-up. I hacked it together quickly, so it ain't pretty, but it worked. What do they say? "There's nothing so permanent as a temporary solution".

Yeah: 5-speed.

I used the whole '71 gas pedal assembly.
