just my luck...

all week i have been talking to this guy about coming out friday (WHEN IT WAS GOOD FOR HIM) to look/buy a 68 gmc... so today i left to go meet him and i finnaly got a hold of him and he tells me he sold the truck...

so then i pick up the local paper and can it be true!!! i found a 67 shortbed stepside with the small back window! for a thousand bux with matching numbers so i go look at it and it needs a lot of work..rust..motor..hasnt been run in 10 years.. i mean A LOT of work but i couldnt let it go to waste so i go get a tow dolly and drive all the way back to get it and i get cold feet when i see it again and how much work it is going to need...so i leave

but hopefully the third time is the charm because i found a 68 shortbed stepside with the small back window in pretty good condition from the looks of it.. (picture wise) so im setting out tomorrow on a 2 hour one way trip to look at and hopefully get it..

what a day but hey hopefully it works out?

what do you guys think

Re: just my luck...

if you look at the fenders on the stepside bed they are wrong the correct fenders have the bodyline on the fenders just as the doors and front fenders do that step bed is off a 73-87. Also that is a 67 because it was the only year from 67-72 to have a small back window and the front fenders have no marker lights which did come on 67 but 68-72 years do have front marker lights,

just my two cents , check the Vin to cab , I'm no expert , but that sure looks like a 67 small window , no marker lights

Re: just my luck...

First off, welcome to the forum!

Small back window was 67 only.

Bed is for 73 and up.

Your best bet to find a 67-72 bed that won't break the bank is to keep an eye on the paper or craigslist.

Does it run and drive?

Re: just my luck...

according to the lady i spoke with she said it runs/drives but needs a tune-up and i kept asking about rust and she said the only rust was in the bed and it was "bubbly not through".. she is selling it for a local guy so im sure there is more rust than she says.. and im taking a dolly with me to get it just in case i don't trust it to make a 2 hour trip... im leaving here in a few to go check her out.. wish me luck

Re: just my luck...

Well at least you eventually got what you wanted (hopefully). I had a guy dink me around for months, telling me he'd sell/deliver me a rolling shortbed frame for $200. After many patient text and emails, he tells me he'd sell me one I didn't want for $500. I finally gave up on the guy. I invested my cash in a welding table...
