74? GMC with Buckets, Step. May get for front suspension? Need advice

Please see the truck below. I found it at a guys place last weekend.

So I need a front disc conversion and was thinking aobut asking just for those parts. He wants to sell the whole thing so it can get out of his yard.

That leave me with a problem of the rest of the truck. Are their any parts on this truck that would sell?

The bucket seats and console are not right for my 67-72 so I cant use them as I had thought.

What would these buckets be worth on this side of the board?

I'm sure you won't have a problem selling the seats and console for these trucks, though I really can't say what they would be worth. I've never actually seen a square body with em in person.

Good find!

There are several items on that that would allow you to recover your costs. What condition is the front shet metal in? If it has buckets it probably has other options too. What about tilt wheel?

Sounds like I need to make a trip to Round Rock. Should I bring my trailer?

You better take him some front brakes for his conversion. I would if I was a whole lot closer.

It isn't a 74. The console, grill (If it is the one for the truck), front markers, core support, cab, door panels and seatbelts are not correct for 74. I am guessing you have a 77 there.

The 6th digint on the VIN will tell you for sure.

Still, looks like it could be parted and money made.

I was totally guessing myself? Thanks for the information. I'm supposed to go see it again on Thrusday and finish the transaction and will take photos.

But what about the seats? are they stock for Chevy's of this year? THey are not from the 67-72 years?

Re: 74? GMC with Buckets, Step. May get for front suspension? Need advice

I just bought a pair of buckets in primo condition with console (one small repairable crack) just like the pics. They were out of a '73. One small hole on back of one seat where something rubbed. I paid $350. Mine are an aqua blue.

The seats were an option in the square body trucks also. Like everyone said, from the pictures it looks like they are 77 seats, judging from the door panels, seat back height, console cup holders, and headlight bezels.

seems like you could definitely part it out for cash. Seems like someone around here was specifically looking for that early style console. I just cant remember who.

It might be a 76, but not a 77 if the seat upholstry is original. If it were a 77 the setas would have the buckle in the middle of the seat back.

67Mach1- From everything I see those are factory GM bucket seats. The low back buckets could be ordered all the way through the middle of 77. Later they started production of the highbacks.

I was the one wanting the console previously...I have found one, but I will that one off your hands if the price is right...if you buy the truck and decide to sell the console, send me some pics and we'll talk price...I'll be more than fair on price...thanks

77 is that weird transition year...both the seats and door panels look un-molested. I know for sure those door panels are 77+...as the doors physically changed. Seats changed thruought 77...so perhaps some 76 seats made it into this thing as well. I dunno.

Re: 74? GMC with Buckets, Step. May get for front suspension? Need advice

Thanks to everyone for the assistance. I do not know much about the 73+ years.

In regards to my parting the truck. I have a lot of PM's about parts and have kept them all. When and If I decide to sell parts I'll honor the time stamp on the message or PM's first. However, I may sell complete truck, less what I need from it, in order to keep me from parking a truck from my house.

If i part, I'll post the parts in the parts section with the names and prices to keep this from becomeing a For Sale post.

FAT HOE- I dont see any previous messages from you. Was it in a different post?

Re: 74? GMC with Buckets, Step. May get for front suspension? Need advice

I finalized my purchase today. More photos taken and will post up tonight. once I pick the truck up and get it home I'll go over what I will do with it. Some rust in RH fender hood is bent and not salvageable. Worn hole in LH seat bolster. Carpet behind seat so im pretty sure they are origional and the truck does have tilt.

Photos soon.

It may be the time to make the transition and become one of us That is a pretty solid truck and could be a good project.

I've been thinking about it. I have a '75 350/350 Combo sitting on the barn floor.

All I need is a bonded Title. I received a Bill of sale Today so Bonded Title is perhaps the best way to go.

I'll have to think about it more. My brother is looking for a truck for his kid. Perhaps I could installl a I6 instead.. Ive got two 250's from 68 and 69 Chevy trucks that could also go in. HMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Looking at where he installed the exhaust, I'd look the truck over real close.

She is a 77 . If you have someone who could use it whole , that might be the way to go with it . I am sure you will take a good look at it when you get it home .

If you decide not to use it , I wil be waiting to see the parts thread . I see a couple things I may be interested in . One on each side of the cab .
