Help with tail light bezel install

I am trying to install the tail lite bezels and want to know if there is a trick to it or what. I got the little clips repops and figured out how to put them on the first bezel, NOS bezels at that. Seemed like the passenger side went on without to much problem, nice and tight against the body so I thought to myself, driver side should be a breeze. Famous last words! I cannot seem to get them to click in and I really did nothing different from the other side. And I have broken almost all of the clips I was going to need to put on the tailgate trim so I will have to do more of those! Are there better clips out there, different design perhaps that work better? I have scratched my new paint and am getting seriously mental about this. Any body had experience? I was afraid that once I took the bezels off, I would not get nice tight bezel connection to the body, seems I was right. I also included pics of the new CHEVROLET decals on my tailgate! Seemed easier than painting and worked like a dream!

Re: Help with tail light bezel install

I can't remember for sure - because it has been so long, but I believe that you put the clips on the bezel and then you push the bezel into the holes and it will lock itself in place.

Or are they the type that when you put it on - you have to twist them because they have a wire spring on the one side?

The CST style panel that went across the tailgate - if you have one, should have just been held on with a bunch of sheet metal screws.

I think we still have one up in the rafters of my moms cellar.

Wood grain with a couple of chrome strips with Chevrolet in chrome letters.

Re: Help with tail light bezel install

Well, I asked the same question on the truck side and a couple suggested that I clip a bit of the ends of the clips off. This will allow the clips more room to open up after pushing thru the hole. Perfect and worked like a charm, if any others were dummies like me. Great help from the forum is what makes this a great community!
