Pitman Arm the same from 67' to 72'?
I picked up my 68' just over a year ago. At some point a PO upgraded to front disk brakes with 5 lugs front and rear. Since tearing down the truck I found a mix of steering parts that has been causing me frustration. The front disks are 71'-72' but the inner/outter tie rods and center link are 68'. Looks as if the disks were an aftermarket conversion item that allowed the PO to keep all the 68' stuff.
I have since installed an ECE 4/6 drop kit. Now the tie-rods don't fit which means my center link must be changed too. If I go to a 71-72 centerlink can I keep the 68' pitman arm??

I have the same problem but backwards. My po had the 71/72 centerlink and tie rods on my 67. If you get a new centerlink I may be interested in the 68 centerlink.

I am fairly sure that the pitman arms are the same for all years

According to LMC, pitman arms are different through the years. 67-68, 69-72, 67-72 with PS. 4 wheel drive being different as well. Don't know if LMC are correct though.

Well, until I saw this I thought I figured it out. CPP is selling the same pitman arm for years 67-72 so I thought they would interchange. Now I don't know.

Just went over to Classic Parts. They list one for '67-'72 manual steering and one for '68-'72 power steering.

Re: Pitman Arm the same from 67' to 72'?
No problem. I'm looking for a 71/72 so you are welcome to the 68'. It has been cleaned, painted with black rust inhibiting paint and includes the idler arm and idler support arm. I'm not sure if I'll need the idler parts. I'm waiting to hear back from someone selling the 71/72 setup. I will get back to you when I hear from him.

Over at ECE they have pitman arms for '67-'68 manual steering, '68-'72 PS, '69-'72 manual steering.

Re: Pitman Arm the same from 67' to 72'?
Yep, what they said.
My '67 is a mixture of parts and they all work together. I have manual steering. The front suspension is from a '68 C-10. The steering box, drag link, pitman arm, idler arm, inner tie rods and adjusting sleeves are from a '67 C-20. The outer tie rod ends are from a '67 C-10. This pretty much show how the rest of my truck is also. A little off thread, but just wanted to share. We figured out every thing using our handy LMC catalog. Danny

Re: Pitman Arm the same from 67' to 72'?
Yes. Pitman & idler don't have to be changed. I swapped later disc brakes to my 68 using the 71-72 drag link w/the original manual steer pitman & idler.

Re: Pitman Arm the same from 67' to 72'?
I know this is an old thread, but I'm still on the search for confirmation. Some have said the 72 had a longer pitman arm. Possibly giving a tighter turning radius.

Re: Pitman Arm the same from 67' to 72'?
when i did my steer conversion i went from manual to pwer steer from a 72 doner, changing the gearbox and the steer rack. the pitman arm from the 72 power steer rack had the same # cast on it as my 67 non power steer.
