On Board Air / York Compressor
Does anyone have any suggestions on a mounting bracket for a York 210R compressor onto a 87 Silverado 5.7L 2WD? I want to keep the a/c, so it will have to mount next to it. I have already checked with Kilby Enterprises, and the only thing that comes close is a mounting bracket with serpentine belt. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: On Board Air / York Compressor
I have questions about the york compressors but wasn't sure if I should start a new thread when this was already here. Not wanting to jack the thread either but hopefully someone can help me. I have a old VW in my yard that has a york compressor on it and wondering if it will work as an air compressor on my truck. I have heard that the audi has these compressors that work and VW is the same as audi. If I'm hijacking the thread feel free to delete this and I will start a new one.
Thanks for any info. |

Re: On Board Air / York Compressor
another question, what kind of clutch do I use with the york? It has the stock VW clutch on it now but looks rusty from sitting. I have the stock clutch from the compressor from my truck that is in good shape, can use that for now until I get my a/c hooked up?
Thanks again |

Re: On Board Air / York Compressor
I tested the clutches on the three Yorks that I got at the salvage yard by hooking them up to my truck battery. Clamp the negative to the body of the York and the positive the wire coming out of the magnet on the clutch. It the clutch engages, then it should work. Try to turn the pulley while engaged and it should turn the cam on the York. Here is a link that may help you with the dimensions of the ROK Key(shaft pulley goes on).

Another option: http://www.nostalgicairparts.com/
They helped me find a correct blower wheel for my ARA unit when nobody else had a clue. |
