I would say 1-10 with 10 being EASIEST...about a 7 or 8.

Same here, i haven't used their stuff personally, but i have had tons of friends/family doing rebuilds and street rods etc that has used their gear, and they have nothing but praises for their products.

Re: Where to order a new wiring harness?

Does this forum have a vendor for a wiring harness? I've checked the marketplace forum and didn't see any.

Painless is an excellent product but also has a price. I've visited their shop in Fort Worth a couple of summers ago and was impressed with their organization, test benches and tech support.

Let us know what you do.

Re: Where to order a new wiring harness?

I installed a Ron Francis Expres kit and i´m very happy with it!
Installation took me and my buddy 2 weekends and 3 gallons of coffee!
I had to change some circuits because of other laws here in germany. That took time!
If you can read instructions and have basic knowledge you can do it!

Re: Where to order a new wiring harness?

I am in the process of redoing mine and it is more than I anticipated but I hate wiring. I am using a general 18 circuit kit Rebel Wire kit and I am keeping it as simple as possible with as few components as I can.

Re: Where to order a new wiring harness?

The benefit of the Painless harness...it bolts in/on the firewall exactly like the factory one did...and the instructions are 73-87 specific...for the most part. well worth it IMO.

Re: Where to order a new wiring harness?

painless painless painless, just keep the factory plugs handy for comparison on how the wires are organized into them, i know for a fact the wires on the headlight plugs in the painless harness were in the wrong spots (at least on the harness i got), its a super easy fix but good luck trying to figure out why your high beams are glowing when the low beams are the only ones supposed to be on..went through head lights and a switch before we dug the old harness out of the trash..

Re: Where to order a new wiring harness?

I also used a painless direct fit. Kind of pricey considering I did not need or use many of the circuits (my fault though). I also had pins in wrong spots in the headlight connector. Also had to reuse several old connectors due to changes in year design (windshield wiper motor comes to mind) that were not supplied with the kit. I got mine from Pace Performance.
