What is this?

On a 1969 Chevy 307 with at least a 10gauge red wire going to it, what is this?

Re: What is this?

Fast idle solenoid to bump the idle up when the AC is on. It compensates for the drag on the engine when the compressor is running.

Re: What is this?

No other reason that I am aware of for that solenoid. Maybe someone swapped the wiring harness. Is the wire inside the harness or was it run separately? Maybe someone did a motor swap at some point and took the harness as well.

Put Voltage to it and see if it works. Worth a few dollars on Fleecbay! Al W.
