Re: F/R disc brake setup

Do a search in the suspension forum. There are multiple ways to do it. I personally am going to use the LT1 F-body calipers with a set of CaptianFab's brackets. Lots of guys are using Impala SS calipers but I want an e-brake so I don't have issues getting it inspected in TX.

Yes it is. If i could cut the cost & get MISC pieces from salvage yards i would. Like the guy say Impala parts. I will look deeper into what fits my 67 C-10.
I do want front & rear disc brakes though

Re: F/R disc brake setup

this would be a good time to do a 5 lug conversion if you have not already done it.

Re: F/R disc brake setup

I haven't yet. im so ready. This is a crucial part of my build. I like the NOSEDIVE stance. 4x6 drop f/r disc setup is ideal for me. They say the truck might lock up because the bed is so light. I wouldn't care,i need to see the RED calipers protruding through the Bonspeed "VINSPEEDS"

Re: F/R disc brake setup

the 73-87 I think you have to use the spindles and ball joints at the minimum or you can bolt up the whole cross member and be done with it the backs I dont know find out so I can do it

They do not make this kit for our years. Our price on the Kit for a 2000 chevy pickup and up run $1250.00. pretty pricey

Baer makes a front 14" and rear 13" kit with parking brake

We sell them also but here again its pricey
Kit 4301389b Front runs $1965 our price
Kit 4302126b Rear runs $1243 our price

For the front that would work. A lot of guys do that conversion. It also gives you the newer style control arm shafts.

The impala rear is not a direct bolt in. CaptianFab makes some brackets that bolt on and use either an Impala caliper (no e-brake) or a different set of brackets that use the LT-1 F-body caliper (integrated e-brake).

You will also need a disc/disc master and proportioning valve.

If it's in your budget, There are also kits available as mgbmike has mentioned that include everything you need for a disc/disc conversion.

Price is going to vary widely. It depends on what you ultimately end up using and how you source the parts. It could be anywhere form a few hundred to a few thousand.

Personally, I am going with the F-body calipers. I have the brackets from Captainfab and can tell you they are quality pieces. I have not completed my install yet so I can't give you all the details.

If you search the suspension section there are several threads about disc/disc conversions.

Re: F/R disc brake setup

You really should search the suspension forum. You have to dig a little but I promise you the answers are there. Several members have done this conversion. All you are going to use from the Impala is the rotors.

Lots of info in this thread.
