New guy in Gila Bend, Az.

Hey ya' all. Sounds like this is a cool place. I signed up 'cause I have a problem with identifying what rear end I have in my ole' 64 C10. I have every reason to believe it's stock but when I ordered new gears they wouldn't fit! I check with Richmond Gear and we came up with no answer. I seem to have the only 1 with an 18 spline pinion. That's not a problem but finding a gear combo. that will fit is. The #'s on the axle housing are WE 10 24. On the gear case itself there is 3838227. Anybody got any idea. I have a parts truck that has what seems to be an identical rear end but it has thick shims for the carrier. My driver truck has like 35 thousand thick so I can't shift it far enough to the left to set up the backlash. HELP!!!! Thanks, Ed in Az.

Re: New guy in Gila Bend, Az.

G'day and welcome from down under.

Plz tell us some more about your trucks and maybe some pix.

If you are looking for some specific info it is best to hunt down the right section - and of course if you have pix it will help.

These guys are a great resource and seem to be able to fix almost anything.
