Disk Brakes
Ok I just got a 70 3/4 ton longbed and want to lower it 4 in the front and 6 in the rear. I read somewhere that if you go more than a 2 front and 4 rear that you have to convert to disk brakes. Was wondering if this is true or not?? I would like to do the conversion someday but not just yet. Can anyone help??

Re: Disk Brakes
Welcome!
I don't have much experience with lowering a 3/4 ton, but I see no reason to have to switch it to disc. I'll move this thread to a forum where you will get a better response.

Re: Disk Brakes
Congrats on the recent purchase of your '70. As far as lowering the truck, IMO, if you're going to lower it over 2" in the front you will need to do so with drop spindles making a disc brake swap a must. You can lower your truck with a 3" spring up front but when you jack the front end up the spring has the tendency to drop out of the upper pocket, possibly affecting your alignment.
I would consider upgrading to disc brakes if you decide to go lower then 2" in the front, but that is my own take on lowering a truck. Check out the install of a 4.5/6" ECE drop kit in the build in my signature below. I'm also going to move this over to the Suspension section to see if we can get you some more responses.
