I have a 12x12" piece of stainless steel that is almost flat. I need to have it polished. Im in kirkland washington. I cant find any place to have this piece polished.. Anyone know of a good place. I found one place and they wanted minimum of $200 dollar service charge.

Anyone have any ideas?

Why not do it yourself? Can't be too difficult. I saw some polishing kits last time I was in Harbor Freight.

if you dont want to do it yourself, is there any big rig shops around town, they usually polish pieces etc.

x2 on the 18 wheeler detail shops, just go into a flying j or someplace like that and look at their bullitan board of vendors and services

Well, never really done it before. I have polished cars for 15+ years, but thats about it. Dont really know what i need.

they sell kits at home depot, lowes etc. that have the proper rouge to buff stainless. if you have a corded/cordless drill you should be good. I think i paid 8 bucks for my kit. Harbor freight has a kit too.

flying j is a national truck stop like TnA. but a truck stop is a good idea, alot of truckers take pride in keeping their truck clean and they do have alot of stainless on them sometimes

I was thinking it would of been around 50 bucks for a piece this size. I had a whole valve cover done a few years back for that price. Of course they arent around anymore.

I went to lowes and didnt find anything. They had one of the super fine wheels, but im sure that wasnt going to polish the scratches out of this. They didnt have any of the rouge either. I will try Home Depot.

I know of a few guys around the area that are experienced with polishing stainless on their cars. Both of these guys polished their stainless exhaust on their cars (one has a Trans Am, the other a Camaro)

Let me know if you want to get ahold of them and see if they'll do it.

This is what i used on my sons VC's and air cleaner, and a few other parts here and there. of course a bench gringer with the polishing wheels and the rouge would do better i was pleasantly surprised with the outcome.

You just put that on the end of a drill??? I have a bench grinder. But that worked???

Another idea is a custom wheel shop. I'm not talking about les schwab or discount tire, I mean the ones that sell big buck polished wheels. I was in the back area of one here in FL and they had a guy polishing some nice aluminum wheels for a customer. They may be willing to do a piece of stainless. I don't know might be worth a shot.

yes it come with the adapter that the pad mount too, then it can chuck in your drill...

since you have a bench grinder i would check to see if you could mount some polishing wheels on it, you can buy the wheels and rouge at harbour freight.

Tried that. They didnt want to do it. Dont do stainless they said.

Try bumper repair shops. They polish the bumpers with each step of the chrome process so they have the skill and the tools to do the job right.

Enumclaw Tire has a polishing shop in the back room they do wheels and all kinds of harley stuff the guy that runs the polish shops name is tim he is also a 67-72 guru. Not sure of the phone number send me a pm if you cant find it. P.S. enumclaws about a hour from kirkland.

Is there anything special about your stainless steel? How thick is it? I can get you a flat piece cut out of prepollished stainless. Would be less cost than having to polish what you have. WES

Ketchum Polishing 360 403 8726. Couple of younger guys up in Arlington. Ive heard good things about them.

Their dad is a fairly well known upholstery guy in this area. They usually have a booth set up at the swap meet. Ive talked to em a couple of times, they seemed pretty reasonable.
