How to fix repop doors??

So the day finally came for me to hang my new doors. I started on the passenger side first. It was a tight fit but lined up. Later I installed the weather seal and the door wouldn't close. I think I need to shim the door, right?

My big problem is the drivers side door. The damn thing doesn't fit. The window frame hits at the top corner. I searched and found posts where guys have drilled out the spot welds to make it fit. I need more details on the fix. Do you removed the window frame completely or just drill out the welds on the latch side and push it lower into the door?

1. New weather strips don't compress as much as originals; more urethane content makes it stiffer, you adjust the door at the hinge one hinge at a time.
2. I would drill the welds and completely remove the window frame (and have), reposition it in the door on the truck, clamp it and weld 'er up.

Adjust the door at the hinge? I'm not sure what you mean. Moving it or adding spacers?

front-back adjustment is on the jamb side of hinge while the in-out adjustment is on the door side of hinges.

Re: How to fix repop doors??

After messing with 3 sets of "NEW" doors including Goodmark----I decided I probably would not live long enough to get a pair that fit. The goodmark pair were so bad that the hinge holes wouldn't line up with the A pillar--and one of the doors had a stamping defect right in the middle of the outer skin--from the inside out so it came out of the press that way---talk about crap!! When I got a door to fit the opening right---then the fender to door accent lines were way off.
I reverted back to original GM doors and they fit like a glove--rust and all. Of all the re-pop stuff out there, the worst fitting junk is the doors. My recommendaiton would be to find the very best original doors you can and work with them. Good luck--Huck

I am using my old frames on both sides and yes my LH door blows. Got a lot of time in that one.

Re: How to fix repop doors??

Be sure you start out with tight door hinges to eliminate sag. If you use the original GM upper hoops you will probably get a better fit. I have seen some good sectioning work on the repop hoops, but it takes some time to cut, fit, weld, grind and finish.
The repop doors are also thinner than original. I would rather see them thicker, like the inner fenders.
