No ebrake rear disc
I recently purchased a 67 swb fleetside from an out of state dealer (iowa). I live in maryland and could only view the photos. The truck has 4 wheel power disc and stops outstanding. But it has no ebrake. The rear calipers look just like most gm fronts. The bracket doesnt bolt to the bearing housing, its welded to the tube. My thoughts are to cut the bracket off and start from new with a kit from a reputable supplier, at least i'll know what i got. Any other suggestions? I've seen the add on small ebrakes but i dont care for them

Re: No ebrake rear disc
just get the factory rear disc from a 2000+ GM 1/2 ton (2 or 4 wheel drive) as they are 6 lug and have disc brakes on the back. you can't go wrong with factory R&D and we are talking same application (rear brakes on a truck) instead of an aftermarket setup using a mix of parts. you know the e-brake will be good on a factory setup.

Re: No ebrake rear disc
a board member - Glock35ipsc makes a bracket kit that uses 94-96 model Impala rear discs (5x5 bp) with 94-97 Camaro calipers and e-brake hardware. It bolts to the housing end like you mention. It is a mix of all GM stuff that you can use and still get replacement parts at any auto parts store. You can keep your current axle and wheels, and do it on the cheap if you don't mind hitting the salvage yards to get the complete Camaro rear setup.

Re: No ebrake rear disc
How about using a drive line e-brake. That way the setup you have now wouldn't have to be changed. Just a thought.................Flat67

OP, Pics of you setup would really help. You may already have the Impala rotors and calipers.

Re: No ebrake rear disc
my bad.....i was thinking model year not current mods on your rig when i mentioned the late model gm truck brake setup. personally i like to use a complete brake system as it was designed from the factory and i like truck brakes on a truck, not car brakes with an aftermarket bracket.....i might go that route on a show truck but not a street driven truck that hauls loads and tows stuff.

Re: No ebrake rear disc
This co. can help you. I have rear disk on my 69. If their parts are bad they will replace them, and they pay the freight. You may have to buy the parts from a dealer, and not ABS Power Brake Inc. I got my system from earlyclassic.com The calipers have emergency brakes, and cables. One of my emergency brakes did not work, and they took care of it with no problem.

Re: No ebrake rear disc
I was thinking about this. Before you order any brake kit you are going to want to make sure what rear end you have. If someone took the time to weld the brackets for brakes they very well may have put a Ford 9" or some other rear end in your truck.

Re: No ebrake rear disc
I was able to find a set of rear brake calipers for a Cad. Seville that had the e-brake built in to the rear calipers. But i have also found a conversion kit on ebay for 399 for the 6 lug and 499 for the 5 lug.
